Cargo: 8 x Bell B40 Articulated Dump Trucks each 28.8 Ton, 1 x Hitachi 520 LCR-3 Excavator at 52.5 Ton, 1 x Hitachi 620 LCR Excavator at 68.4 Ton.
Whilst all machines were on the water en route to Mombasa the main border crossing between Uganda and Rwanda, Gatuna Border Post, closed. From 2 other border crossing options available to us one was quickly dismissed as it was deemed unsafe to transport this equipment down very steep and windy roads. The other, Kagitumba Border, had a bridge gross weight restriction of 53 Ton. With the client, HiLOG assisted in disassembly of the 2 excavators in order to meet the gross vehicle mass restrictions.
